I've been selected as an artist-in-residence at the fantastic Harvestworks in NYC, for 2010-2011. We'll be working on creating a piece for my expanded banjo, incorporating surround sound.

Also, I'll be releasing a new 7" lathe-cut record later in the month, initially offered as part of the "Parts and Labor" show at the newly-opening Soloway gallery in Brooklyn.

The Issue Project Room has uploaded my entire concert from last Saturday as mp3s to the Free Music Archive, and they wrote up a really nice thing about my "twenty-first century banjo". Thanks Andrew!

I'm playing a solo set this Saturday at Issue Project Room in Brooklyn, opening up for Nat Baldwin of Dirty Projectors. Haven't played in NYC for a bit so should be fun.

Thanks to everyone who helped out with recent shows in Europe! A video of the show from Staalplaat in Berlin has been uploaded by the folks who run the event (I had some tech issues, so fwd through the first 2 minutes or so).

The new LP is starting to get reviews and airplay around... Also a couple shows in Boston and Brooklyn have been added to the calendar.

Tons of happenings next week. Official LP release shows in Netherlands, Paris, and Berlin. Rocking it on both sides of the Atlantic like Phil Collins with a streaming radio gig back in NYC in the middle of it all. Also, will be on Amsterdam radio (streaming as well) next Monday so can catch me on the Internet.

Just got the new harmonica/banjo duo LP back, should be coming out later this month! Should be a number of shows in March (check calendar for updates on EU shows), as well as I'm playing Feb. 19th in Philadelphia on a bill with Neil Feather/Jon Berendt.

Thanks to Ed Pinsent for another wonderful review in Sound Projector, with crazy phrases such as "These golden notes just pour out of him, the tempo varying as needed, reflecting excitement and interest in a tributary of the ever-rolling river of story-telling".

There's a lot coming up this year including shows in Europe and the Seamus Cater/Woody Sullender LP is finally scheduled for release!

Thanks to Brothers Peeesseye for inviting me to sit in with them and Nate Wooley last week. I snuck in a clip from "Sound Characters" in honor of our friend Maryanne Amacher. Fun show next Monday at Zebulon, playing in trio with bassist Jason Ajemian and Ben Vida.

My new cd "Live at Barkenhoff" is just in from Germany. It is a live recording of a concert in Worpswede, Germany from last summer. It is being issued by the folks at Künstlerhäuser Worpswede and will be available in March.

Also, just finishing packaging for a harmonica/banjo duo LP with Seamus Cater (Amsterdam), and waiting on production of a low-run series of lathe-cuts of electronic compositons based solely on running band pass filters on Nirvana songs. More in the works!

Things are busy wrapping up two projects. Just finished mastering and packaging for a new cd "Live at Barkenhoff" from a concert in Germany last summer to be put out by the good people at the Künstlerhäuser Worpswede. Also finishing up a duo LP "When We Get to Meeting" with Amsterdam based harmonica player Seamus Cater to be released in 2009.

Malaysian artist Goh Lee Kwang just released an interesting 3" cd with a "performance" by me. My contribution was basically spinning some coins for a few seconds but add that one to the CV!

In 2004, I collborated with Maryanne Amacher on "Teo!" an installation in Mexico City. After some delay, a stereo mix of this project has just come out on cd on the Tzadik label.

My April 28th show at the Knitting Factory with Katt Hernandez has been cancelled. The Knitting Factory cancelled this series of improvised music. Now, we can pretty much just stay in Brooklyn.

Just taped an interview with Ian Nagoski to air on my WFMU program this Monday, Dec. 3 at noon. Ian just released a collection of 78 recordings from 1918-1955 from around the world called "Black Mirror" on the Dust-to-Digital label.
